Marketing is a valuable tool for every company to utilize in order to have their brand reach new audiences. Effective marketing can get quite expensive, but regardless of your budget, there are ways to maximize your return on investment.

Throw out of the trash.

The first step to getting the most out of your budget is to sit down and take a close look at the details. Go through the numbers and remove expensive marketing items that aren’t required. There are bound to be items that you don’t use anymore or ventures that didn’t pan out the way you wanted. Take out the trash so you can open up to new ventures that are effective and will help you in the long run.

Start using free marketing.

There are many ways to utilize free marketing, but here are some of the most effective.

Start off by improving your customer service and their customer experience. The greatest set of free marketing tools is your customers themselves. If you provide great service, solve problems and make their lives easier, they will do the marketing for you by recommending your company to friends, family, colleagues and other companies.

Social media is the newest and hottest trend right now for marketing your company and your brand. The best part is that you don’t need to pay for the accounts or pay for ads to promote your products or services. As long as you continue to engage your audience, the followers and brand awareness will grow. This is also another way to improve customer service. Many consumers will go directly to social media to complain or praise products or companies.Having an account on the same platform will give you the chance to speak with them in real time to ensure they know you care and are available to resolve issues.

Build your brand.

Today’s consumers want more than just products with a cool logo on them. They want to connect with the company and support the ideals and mission of the brand. With new competitors popping up frequently offering the same products and services, people want to know why they should buy from you. This is where the brand awareness through marketing is increasingly important. Showing them directly and indirectly that your business ideals and value proposition will help them starts to resonate and the more often they see/hear about your company, the more reason they have to work with you.

Develop an email-marketing plan.

Email may seem like a thing of the past, but it is proven to be one of the most effective ways to reach audiences. While many of our inboxes are littered with spam mail,  as consumers, we still look through our emails daily for the right email or deal to catch our eye. This is where having an engaging email-marketing plan is helpful and effective. Give your audience and demographic helpful information and when the time is right, offer them some incentives for buying your products or services.

Check your progress and return on investment (ROI).

Ensure that you are maximizing your marketing budget by routinely checking the progress and reporting behind your marketing efforts – ads, social media, emails, etc. Make sure you have access to this type of reporting, either directly or through your partner marketing company. If results are not as expected, then it is time to change course. You should be able to see what is working and generating traction, and what isn’t. The efforts and costs that are not working bring us back to point #1: stop wasting time and money, and throw out the trash.
