Each notification is a tiny distraction pulling you away from whatever task you were doing at the time. Banning all non-essential electronics from your workstation eliminates some of the distractions and gives you more to look at on your breaks.

Learn to Say No

You may not realize it, but saying yes too often can set you behind in your work. It’s okay to say no, or that you don’t have time right away. This should go without saying, but be polite with your no – even give a small explanation as to why you can’t help. It will go a long way.

The worst thing you can do to yourself. and the team as a whole is overcommit. Your intentions are certainly pure, but it’s impossible to do everything you’re asked to jump into. Saying no or rescheduling will provide you with the time to finish the project at hand and then see if your assistance is still needed.

Prioritize

Take time throughout the day to prioritize. Some people make running lists on a notepad, others set calendar reminders, and others use online tools to keep their lists in order. It’s easier to see the scope of what needs to be done and decide what is the most important item.

Keep a Positive Head

Productivity and mood go hand in hand. Don’t let a tough situation pull down your mood, because it will only throw you further into being unproductive. Before you know it, you’ll be in a vicious cycle of negativity and work will come to a standstill. If you find yourself getting stressed, overworked, or burnt out – take a walk. A few minutes to clear your head can be just what you need to get back to work.
